The heavy-duty gantry friction stir welding (FSW) equipment independently developed and designed by Aerospace Engineering Equipment (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. (AEE) has been recently delivered to Zhuzhou Liancheng Group in Hunan Province, a high-quality supplier of CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. The equipment is mainly used for welding traction beams and sleeper beams of rail transit vehicles. It effectively solves the common problems of large welding deformation, poor mechanical performance and complicated multi-layer & multi-pass welding existing in traditional fusion welding of medium and thick aluminum alloy plates, greatly improving welding quality and production efficiency.

The equipment is applicable to the welding of 1XXX to 8XXX series aluminum alloys. It supports friction stir welding of aluminum alloy plates and profiles with a single-side welding thickness ranging from 2mm to 30mm, a maximum width of 3000mm and a maximum length of 4000mm.
