At the 28th Essen Welding & Cutting Fair Beijing, Aerospace Engineering Equipment (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. (AEE) showcased its latest achievements in Friction Stir Welding (FSW) and Additive Friction Stir Deposition (AFSD) technologies under the theme "Smart Welding for the Future, Advanced Additive Manufacturing for Excellence".

 

High-speed Intelligent System Boosts Welding Efficiency and Intelligent Upgrade

AEE presented its self-developed high-speed spindle dedicated to friction stir welding (8000rpm), as well as the intelligent tool holder system jointly developed with the Macao Institute for Development and Quality (IDQ). The system enables real-time monitoring of key production parameters, laying a solid digital foundation for intelligent manufacturing.

 

Solid-state Additive Manufacturing: Debut of Large-scale Additive Components at Essen Fair

Another highlight at AEE's booth was a full range of products manufactured via Additive Friction Stir Deposition (AFSD), which fully demonstrated the great potential of this technology for engineering application. Derived from friction stir welding, AFSD is a composite process combining friction, extrusion and stirring, which can be regarded as a micro-forging technology. It features no material melting, high deposition efficiency and superior mechanical performance.

The AFSD workstation jointly developed by AEE and IDQ was also on display with on-site operation demonstration, showcasing its outstanding performance in manufacturing large-size components.

 

Expert Insights: Focus on Technological Innovation

During the exhibition, AEE held three special technical seminars. Distinguished experts and scholars including Dr. Feng Xiaosong, Chief Process Engineer of Shanghai Aerospace Equipment Manufacturing General Factory Co., Ltd., Dr. Liu Fengchao from Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Dr. Ma Linghang from Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai) shared in-depth discussions on research achievements and application prospects of AFSD technology, winning wide acclaim among attendees.

Continuous Innovation to Lead the Future of Green and Intelligent Welding

At this Essen Fair, AEE fully displayed its technological strengths and innovative achievements in FSW and AFSD. The booth received numerous professionals from aerospace, shipbuilding, rail transit, new energy vehicles and other industries, and the application prospects of the technologies attracted extensive attention. Going forward, AEE will continue to conduct in-depth research and promotion of FSW and AFSD, strive for breakthroughs in material adaptability, process efficiency and equipment intelligence, and drive the welding industry toward greener, smarter and more efficient development.
