From July 5 to 8, the 18th Shanghai International Automotive Manufacturing Technology & Equipment & Materials Exhibition (AMTS) grandly opened at Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Aerospace Engineering Equipment (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. (AEE) showcased its new products in the Welding & Joining Engineering Pavilion, presenting a full range of friction stir welding (FSW) solutions tailored for the automotive industry.
Expanding Intelligent Manufacturing Capabilities — Cantilever Dual-station FSW Equipment Debuts for the First Time
Independently developed by AEE, the cantilever dual-station FSW equipment is designed to meet the demands for automated, intelligent and flexible production of automotive battery trays. Optimized for guaranteed weld quality and welding speed, it adopts an innovative structural layout to accommodate diversified product requirements. The equipment drew crowds of professionals and visitors at the exhibition for on-site visits, technical exchanges and business negotiations.

- Featuring a cantilever structure and symmetric dual-station layout, the equipment switches welding stations via horizontal movement of the crossbeam. It occupies less floor space with high site utilization, and the four-guide-rail base ensures excellent structural rigidity.
- Equipped with a high-rigidity high-torque mechanical spindle, it can be further integrated with constant pressure control, laser weld seam tracking, automatic tool setting at starting points, and welding data collection & extraction functions.
- It supports extended configurations including dual spindles at the same station and multi-station & multi-crossbeam layouts. The modular tooling platform enables easy connection with robots and smooth production line integration, covering products such as new energy vehicle battery trays, cooling plates and electric control boxes.
Innovation for Customer Success — FSW Specimens & Welding Tools Demonstrate Core Strength
Driven by the rapid growth of the new energy vehicle industry, friction stir welding, as an advanced solid-state joining technology, has been widely applied to empower industrial development. AEE has developed a complete lineup of FSW equipment, facilitating lightweight and eco-friendly production of automotive electric control boxes, water-cooled motor housings and cast battery trays. At the exhibition booth, AEE displayed welding tools for aluminum alloys of different thicknesses and structures, as well as FSW specimens including 3D electric control boxes, three-in-one motor housings and battery trays for new energy vehicles, helping visitors gain in-depth understanding of FSW and its automotive applications.
